Lockhart, a Lake Forest resident for over 50 years, grew up in McGehee, Arkansas. He attended the University of Arkansas and then the American Academy of Art and Art Institute of Chicago. His illustrations of nature and wildlife have been published in Liberty, Coronet, Collier's, Sports Afield, and the Saturday Evening Post. These two prints, Ruffed Grouse and Bob-White, are included as matted prints in Lockhart's book, Portraits of Nature. Lockhart is the honoree of the new Lockhart Family Nature Center of the Lake Forest Open Lands Association.
