How to Place Items on Hold

Call us at 847-234-0636 and we'll place a hold on it for you.

Place the item on hold yourself by visiting My Account (directions follow).
Directions for placing holds online through My Account

Browse to the item in the Catalog.

Click the "Place Hold" button.

Enter your barcode number and password.
(If you haven't changed your password, the default password is patron.) -
Select your Pickup Library and click the "Place Hold(s)" button.

A window will appear, indicating that your hold was successfully placed. If you have any issues, please call us at 847-234-0636.
Placing "On-Shelf" Items on Hold
Important: If an item is available on our shelves at Lake Forest, for faster service, please call 847-234-0636 to place a hold.
Placing a hold online in the catalog does not mean your hold is immediately available for pickup at the Library.
For items that are not currently on our shelves, or that are coming from other libraries, we will let you know when the item is available for pickup.
Reciprocal Borrowing
Lake Forest Library is part of a library consortium that shares materials between libraries. You can use your Lake Forest Library card at any of the CCS member libraries. Most libraries will require you to register your card with them if it is your first time visiting.

If no libraries in our consortium have the item you are looking for, we can request materials for you from libraries across the country.
Note that any borrowing fees required by lending libraries are passed on to the patron, but we will always alert you first so that you can decide if you would still like to borrow the item.
