Grants to the Library

The Friends of Lake Forest Library have approved a grant totaling $89,750 for FY2025. Thanks to the support of the Lake Forest community, the Friends are able to provide these funds to enhance and support Lake Forest Library. The Library Board and Staff are grateful to the Friends for this generous grant. Thank you, Friends!

  •  $35,000 for full sponsorship of Lake Forest Reads and Youth Summer Reading program
  • $16,250 for partial sponsorship of Read Between the Ravines and Adult Summer Reading program
  •  $1,200 for art supplies and prizes for Mini Art Masterpiece Challenges, Bookmark Contests, and other creative activities
  •  $3,500 for a new smartboard in the Media Lab
  •  $6,000 for a new Discovery Table in the Children’s Library for multigenerational activities
  •  $12,500 for digitization and indexing of the Lake Forester and other local newspapers
  •  $10,000 to cover final expenses of the Remisoff murals restoration
  •  $5,300 for the appraisal and restoration of four additional art pieces in the Library collection

Jan Gibson presented a fascinating look at the Library's history and Remisoff's life and art! Watch it on the Library YouTube Channel.

Stay tuned for a Friends Appreciation & Murals Celebration in the Fall. The Library plans to recognize the Friends for their generous grant to restore the murals, which came to $260,000, and invite PARMA Conservation to share behind‑the‑scenes stories from their restoration work. We look forward to continuing to discover and share new details about the murals!
