Each spring, the Friends award $2,000 scholarships to up to three graduating high school seniors who clearly demonstrate a passion for reading. Students from Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, and Knollwood are eligible to apply. The Friends of Lake Forest Library inaugurated this scholarship in 2003 to recognize students whose lives are enriched by reading.
Application Process
- Download and complete the application form.
- Submit a 500-word essay.
- Include a letter of recommendation from an adult who is not a relative. When contacting your recommender, provide them with the following information:
- Name of the scholarship you're applying for.
- Information about the scholarship. (See above in bold.)
- Name of the scholarship you're applying for.
- Your recommender can submit their letter online or on paper.

- *For letters on paper, please be sure the letter is in a secured, sealed envelope. Some teachers will not directly give you their letter, and you will need to provide them with the above link.

- Submit your completed application materials by March 15, 2024, in any of the following ways:

- Drop them off at Lake Forest Library by 5:00 pm on March 15, 2024
