Each spring, the Friends award $2,000 scholarships to up to three graduating high school seniors who demonstrate a passion for reading. Students from Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, and Knollwood are eligible to apply. The Friends of Lake Forest Library inaugurated this scholarship in 2003 to recognize students whose lives are enriched by reading.

Application Process

  1. Complete the application form.
  2. Write a 500-word essay.
  3. Include a letter of recommendation from an adult who is not a relative.
  4. Submit completed application materials (form, essay, and recommendation) in one of the following ways:
    1. Drop off your completed application to Lake Forest Library before 5:00 pm on March 15, 2023.
    2. Mail your application; it must be postmarked by March 15.

    3. LFHS students can submit their applications to The College and Career Resource Center by March 15.

Late applications will not be considered.
