For more than 150 years, Marshall Field and Co. reigned as Chicago's leading department store. This lavishly illustrated talk full of photographs, ads, postcards, menus, and memorabilia, traces the store's history from its beginnings as a dry good store in 1852 through its development into a world-class fashion and service trendsetter and international tourist destination. We'll review many beloved traditions including chicken pot pie, the Walnut Room Christmas tree, the State Street store's legendary window displays, 28 Shop, Uncle Mistletoe, the bronze clocks, and, of course, Frango Mints.
