Laurance Rockefeller, the philanthropic conservationist who was instrumental in establishing and enlarging several of our National Parks, said: “How we treat our land, how we build upon it, how we act towards our air and water, will, in the long run, tell what kind of people we really are.”

For over fifty years, this conservation ethic has guided the mission of Lake Forest Open Lands Association (LFOLA) as it has led the protection and stewardship of ecologically and culturally significant landscape here at the meeting point of the western grasslands, the eastern forests, and the largest freshwater system on the planet.

LFOLA President John Sentell will recap this nationally recognized land trust’s evolution and growth to date and describe its current programs and preserves, including the remarkable restoration of McCormick Ravine.
