Freelance Chicago journalist, sustainable transportation advocate, and author Lindsay Welbers gives a high-level rundown of her book Chicago Transit Hikes, including how to use Metra and what kind of landscapes are accessible using transit. This presentation includes hiking and camping opportunities easily accessible from the Lake Forest area and is suitable for all levels of experience with public transit and hiking.

Lindsay Welbers grew up in Central Illinois in 100 acres of pristine second-growth forest and runs the ultralight camping blog Third Coast Hikes. With her book Chicago Transit Hikes she aims to encourage Chicagoans to explore their own backyards, using the tools they already have available, and to protect our natural landscape for all future generations.
