Administrative Librarian’s Report:

Equipment: Work is progressing for the MediaBank installation. We have run into a few difficulties. They will be resolved, but installation may take longer than we had anticipated. We hope to have it up and running before the end of the year.

Services : An information sheet about E-Pay was distributed. This program, offered through the state of Illinois, will allow our patrons to pay their fines online using a credit card. We met with the E-Pay representative and are preparing to offer this service to our patrons. There is a small fee involved, but patrons pay more fines when this service is available so the fee should not be an issue.

The library will also be adding Freegal Music Service for our patrons. This service allows downloading of DRM-free music from the Sony catalog. We pay for the songs and library patrons can download up to three songs each week. There will be a link on our web site that patrons click on to go to the Freegal site. Once there, they enter their library card number and can search the database and download. We hope to attract some younger library users by offering this service. Glencoe Public Library is already using this service.

Miscellaneous: July statistics were distributed. The Children’s library set a new circulation record. The previous record was set in April 2009.

The July 2010 Year-to-Date report was distributed.

Our Directors and Officers insurance has been made available through the Metropolitan Library System. Due to funding cuts they have reorganized and will still provide the insurance.

The City asked Mrs. Grabbe to do a Community Spotlight on the library at the November 1 st City Council Meeting. Trustees are welcome to attend.

Committee Reports:

Services: No report.

Long Range Planning: No report.

Finance: No report. The committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. on October 12, 2010.

NSLS: Materials delivery is currently the only service being provided and it is expected to be funded through the end of the year. The number of ILL materials sent and received has dropped significantly due to changes in how holds are placed and processed.

Friends: The book sale is this week. All trustees are invited to the reception from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The presale will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday.

Barbara Rinella is performing October 18, at 3:30 p.m. in the Gorton Auditorium. She will be presenting American Jennie: The Remarkable Life of Lady Randolph Churchill by Anne Sebba.

Old Business: None.

New Business : The next meeting will be on Tuesday, October 12, 2010.

Opportunity for the public to address the Board: no one addressed the board.

Trustee Gibson moved, and Trustee Miserendino seconded, a motion to adjourn. Motion carried.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:02 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Catherine Miserendino
