Marketing Coordinator

Lake Forest Library ( seeks a part-time Marketing Coordinator to develop and implement our marketing and publicity efforts.

Position is responsible for creating, writing, editing, and managing print and online marketing and publicity content.  The position involves working with librarians and a part-time in-house graphic designer.

Candidates should be knowledgeable in print and online content (both web and social media), local on-line and print publications, and have experience in developing and implementing marketing plans.  Our ideal candidate will be creative, tenacious, understand our target market, and be able to work with a variety of individuals on developing projects with short time-frames. Our talented and fun staff is great at designing and delivering great services and programs; now we need someone to help us get the word out in our community.

The position is approximately 16-18 hours a week (three to four days) and earns pro-rated vacation and sick time. Salary is $20/hour.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design, create, write, edit, and manage print and online content
  • Write and update web content
  • Assist our Social Media Librarian with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and library blog
  • Develop and coordinate marketing calendar in relation to activities
  • Coordinate preparation and delivery of quarterly newsletter and annual report
  • Develop relationships with local and regional media
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of print and online efforts


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Previous marketing experience, preferably in a small community and/or for a non-profit
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to write press releases, news stories, quarterly newsletter, and annual report
  • Creative skills to produce posters, flyers, and other marketing materials
  • Proficiency and experience with Adobe InDesign, Excel, Microsoft Office, HTML, CMS
  • Knowledge of effective print and online marketing
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Organizational and follow through skills
  • Positive, creative attitude and team player skills

Maintenance Assistant

Entry-level positions needed for some days, evenings, and weekends, averaging about 15 hours per week. Responsibilities include general janitorial cleaning including: washrooms, windows, floors, etc. Emptying book and A/V bins, painting, snow removal, changing light bulbs, undertaking repairs to the building and equipment. Setup of meeting rooms for programs and moving (sometimes heavy) supplies and furniture, unloading and distributing deliveries, restocking supplies, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems. Announce closing time, enforce safety requirements, and safeguard the building and grounds. Must be able to lift 80 lbs. and work on ladders. Other varied duties involved in maintaining the building and grounds. Benefits include vacation and sick pay.


Position requires high school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to read and understand directions and have strong organizational skills. Outside duties include working in inclement weather. Experience in janitorial duties required. Applicants must have valid driver's license.


Salary: Starts at $16.46 per hour.
