The Library is governed by a nine member Board of Trustees selected by the Caucus and appointed by the Mayor with approval by the City Council. The Board has fiduciary responsibility, develops policies and appoints the Administrative Librarian. Under the direction of the Board, the Administrative Librarian has charge of the operation of the Library, including its collection, physical equipment, and employees. Other administrative staff of the Library include librarians who head the Adult Services, Children’s, and Technical Services Departments; Department Heads for Automated and Administrative Services, Circulation, and Graphic Services; and support staff in various departments.
