The City of Lake Forest, Parks & Recreation, Lake Forest Library, Elawa Farm, Green Minds, Lake Forest Open Lands, and Gorton Community Center are partnering this April to celebrate Earth Day with a month of eco‑friendly activities. The theme this year is "Act for Earth."
Join us in Market Square from Noon to 4:00 pm on Sunday, April 3, to participate in the kick-off event. Meet Bart the Cart and learn about composting with an Earth Machine. Stop by the photo booth to pose with your "This I Can Do, 2022" pledged action slip. Learn and be entertained from a variety of presentations and performances including a bicycle safety expert, Joey FineRhyme freestyle rhyme master, and an exhibit from Wildlife Discover Center.
Each week in April will have a theme with events and challenges.
Week 1: Reduce Waste Challenge
Week 2: Protect our Water Resources
Week 3: Earth Week Photo Challenge
Week 4: Reduce Your Impact

Library pollinator garden
Pollinator gardens are full of native plants that help support populations of butterflies, bees, flies, moths, and beetles, that help our ecosystem flourish.
(Updated April 20) Thank you to everyone who took our survey and shared your ideas and enthusiasm! We received a lot of positive feedback that will help the Library Board and Staff in evaluating a pollinator garden in the future.
